Chapter - 22 (Smith POV)

I watched as she deliberately avoided me, her pace quickening as she practically ran towards her car, not sparing me so much as a second glance. Well, wasn’t this exactly what I had wanted all along? I sighed, shoving my hands into my pockets before turning back towards the dining table, where Sam was still finishing his breakfast.

We ate in complete silence, the only sounds filling the air being the occasional clink of cutlery against plates. However, I could sense Sam’s curiosity bubbling beneath the surface. He kept sneaking glances at me every couple of seconds, debating whether or not to voice the thoughts swirling in his little mind.
